The first phase of the J.A.M.A. Railroad, named after our four grandchildren, Jesse, Abi, Michael and Audrey, was the completion of the freight line.
The inaugural run was on October 20th, 2004. Passenger service was added and the first passengers boarded on June 14th, 2007.
The J.A.M.A. Railroad models the Sante Fe and the setting is the end of the steam era.
The J.A.M.A. Railroad travels through the New Mexio towns of Raton, Las Vegas and Lamy.
The grandchildren each have a business on the main street of Raton. Structures included on the railroad were made by Piko and Pola.
The J.A.M.A. Railroad features approximately 260 feet of Aristo-Craft stainless steel track, which allows trains to travel around a waterfall, past mountains, along a running stream and pond and through a five-foot tunnel.
Since the spring of 2005 various plants, ground cover and shrubs have been added to our gargen railroad. The passenger line is powered by an LGB 2-4-0 steam locomotive, and an LGB 2-8-2 Mikado steam locomotive powers the freight line. Both lines are controlled by a Crest walk-around system.
