The Bayley Circle Railroad was started during the summer of 1990. The original line was a rectangle around three raised bed vegetable gardens about (40 x 60). It was a true vegetable garden railroad. Over the next couple of years track was laid around each raised bed as well.
In 1993, I built a small building to house my controls and store the trains. All trains can leave the building ontrack and return. I do have to put them on the track and take them off to store them on shelves on the walls of the building.
In 1999, I decided to add another landscaped layout on the other side of the yard (120') away. I started laying it and decided that i needed a mountain halfway across the yard. I spent most of that summer building a mountain 6' x 10' x 4 1/2' tall.
In 2000, I started the landscaped layout which is 40' x 60'. It has a 10' x 15' pond, a 54' river, a waterfall, 26 buildings (3 are wooden structures) 4 scratch built double wire bridges, 1 scratch built covered bridge, 2 scratch built water towers, many trees and various plants.
In total there is about 1500 feet of track. I can run 12 trains at one time unattended. Everything is well weathered since it has been out in the weather year round for all these years.
